Wind Energy
Wind energy is a source of renewable energy that uses the force of the wind to generate electricity. The main means to obtain it are the wind turbines, "windmills" of variable size that transform with their blades the kinetic energy of the wind in mechanical energy.
Land-based wind farms are an increasingly cheaper and more competitive source of energy, and even cheaper in many regions than other conventional energy sources.
By the end of 2014, the installed global wind power capacity amounted to 370 GW, generating around 5% of the world's electricity consumption.
